We will be looking at the “Understanding Earth and Space Systems” units in Grade 2 and 3. As a class, we will assess ways in which the actions of humans have an impact on the quality of air, water and soil and ways in which the quality of air, water and soil has an impact on living things. Through inquiry based learning, we will investigate the characteristics of air, water and soil and effects and changes to these elements in the environment. This will help us develop an understanding of the ways in which air, water and soil are used by living things to help them meet their basic needs.
The students will be building and designing a simple machine in the classroom. I would like the students to bring recyclables from home to help with their creations. Some examples of this would be cardboard boxes, string, paper towel rolls, straws and so on! So save those recyclables so we can get started!
